Get Involved
Hello, from Jason Iversen,
Vice-President of Organizing
One of my goals as the Vice President of Organizing has been to start meeting
in each area of the Twin Cities campus on a monthly basis. When I was the West
Bank executive board representative, the AFSCME Techs and Clericals in my area
meet on the first and third Wednesdays of the month.
We have a group of regulars who sit down, eat lunch and discuss union matters. It has become a great source
of ideas and suggestions that I pass on to our local's executive board and also
contributed greatly to our contract campaign in 2005.
Since it is so valuable
to us on the West Bank, I want to repeat our success by expanding it to the East
Bank, Academic Health Center and St. Paul areas of campus. We began meeting on
the East Bank and the Academic Health Center and just this October, we began
meeting on the St. Paul Campus.
I always send out emails to our members in these
areas to announce dates, times and places, so if you would like to attend please
read the emails about AFSCME Information meetings.
If you are not receiving emails
from either myself about these meetings or our local office, please contact the
local office at union@afscme3937.org.
Remember, our union depends on members like you for its ideas and energy.
Stay informed and Stay active!
100 Members in 100 Days Organizing Campaign!
In April 2006 we launched an effort to increase membership involvement
in our local by actively working toward the goal of signing up 100 fair-share
fee payers as active members of our local.
If you would like to participate please email
or call (612.379.3933) the local office and we will help you locate the
co-workers in your area who have not yet signed membership cards.
Not sure if you have signed a card? Call us today. The first 50 new members
will receive a union-made t-shirt!
